White Loop Ltd worked with three schools across England and Scotland to examine the impact of Read&Write on learner achievement, during the transition to secondary education.
The study specifically examined the impact during this year as it’s been proven that reading and writing progress at this age range often slows and can in fact, go into decline.
Students at two schools were given access to Read&Write, whilst the third was used as a comparative school. WhiteLoop Ltd. worked with learners and teachers at the three schools, and were able to assess the impact of Read&Write.
Outcomes
- 66% of Read&Write users saw an improvement in reading age, compared to non Read&Write users (27%)
- The measurable quality of writing improved more amongst Read&Write users than non Read&Write users
- Compared to the national average decline, Read&Write users in their first year of secondary school achieved a significant degree of literacy progress and improvement
